John S. Garrison is a writer living in Los Angeles. His work appears in The Atlantic, The Gay & Lesbian Review, Literary Hub, The New York Times, and elsewhere. Garrison is the author of seven books, including GlassThe Pleasures of Memory in Shakespeare's Sonnets and Red Hot + Blue. He is also co-editor of the Spotlight on Shakespeare book series, which explores how the plays and poems can help us make sense of today's world. In 2021, he was named a Guggenheim Fellow.

Numerous organizations have recognized Garrison with awards, fellowships, and prizes. These include the American Philosophical Society, Beinecke Library at Yale University, California Humanities Research Institute, Folger Shakespeare Library, Harry Ransome Center at UT Austin, John Simon Guggenheim Foundation, Medieval Academy of America, National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Renaissance Society of America.
